Building Barbecues & Outdoor Kitchens
Sunset's Building Barbecues & Outdoor Kitchens is a colorful paperback (sturdy cover) that retails for $14.95. As the title implies, it offers guides to constructing backyard grills and outdoor kitchens.
Building Barbecues & Outdoor Kitchens gives you complete
designs and step-by-step construction for 17 barbecue projects. Also included is information on planning as well as the tools
needed. There are articles on such topics as how and where to buy materials, how
to cast concrete, mix and apply mortar, build with stone, install a grill, and other
information you will need for some of the projects.
Though the book comes in at under 150 pages, it has quite a bit of information for the money. Pictures and diagrams guide you through each of the projects.
The following barbecue projects are included in the book:
Small Slate Barbecue
Cobblestone Charcoal Barbecue
Barbecue Island for a Portable Grill
Relaxed Elegance (a combination bar/grill design)
Outdoor Indoor Kitchen
Cook's Delight (masonry barbecue including gas-fired grill and two burner
Elegant Barbecue Counter
Simple Brick Barbecue
Full-featured Outdoor Kitchen
Sculptural Fire Pit
Colorful Contemporary (stucco plus ceramic tile counter for grill and sink)
Angled Cooking Counter
Italian Pizza Oven
Overall, Building Barbecues & Outdoor Kitchens is a good idea book, and there is enough information to guide someone experienced with do-it-yourself projects through to installing a barbecue center in their backyard. If you are new to home projects, some of the skills you need proficiency at maybe a little daunting. Although, even if you decide to have somebody else install your barbecue area, this book is a good resource for design ideas.
